What's In a Name

We were talking at work about what our names mean. Their origins and such. Charles means 'Manly' in French. My last name, Rutledge, is Scots Irish. It was originally Redd Lache which can mean Red Loch, Red Lake or Red Pool. I like to think it's because I come from burly Scottish berserkers who left pools of blood behind them, though it may actually have more to do with red pond scum in the region where my ancestors came from. Still, Manly Redpool has a certain ring to it. Maybe I'll use it as a pen name someday.
